Facebook Sends Its Email to Your Inbox

Ap581387630140-1
Did you know you had a Facebook.com email address? If you're on the social network, you did from 2010 until now. Facebook decided to mothball the service Monday, citing low user numbers.
But what Facebook is doing instead may cause more trouble than the company anticipates. That's because any Facebook.com email will now be rerouted to the email address you gave Facebook when you signed up.
In other words, any one of Facebook's 1.3 billion active users can now email you directly, simply by sending a message to [your username]@facebook.com — whether or not you've listed your email on your profile page, or made your profile page public.
It isn't quite as bad as it sounds, however. "We limit the number of messages a person can receive in their inbox from people they're not connected to," a Facebook spokesperson toldMashable. "We also have systems in place to detect spam, and will not forward messages that we think are spam. The external email provider will also do their own spam checks.
"People also have the ability to turn off forwarding once we roll this out in a few weeks."
If that still sounds worrying but vaguely familiar, it may be because Google did something similar with Google+. Last month, the search giant announced that anyone on Google+ could email your Gmail account without knowing your actual Gmail address, a move that attracted a firestorm of criticism. (In that case, too, there was a limit on the number of messages a user could send.)
There was also a controversial incident in 2012, when Facebook briefly changed the email address listed on a user's profile page to his or her Facebook.com address — without asking for the user's consent.
In this latest case, rerouting Facebook.com email won't end the problem of your "other" inbox, where messages from people you're not friends with go to die (even the useful ones). That may be the silver lining in all this: If a Facebook user has a truly urgent message for you, they now have a way to send it to your attention without relying on the other inbox.
Whether that benefit will be outweighed by a torrent of spam remains to be seen. Either way, ironically, your Facebook.com email address may be about to get more use now that it's inactive than it did in the last four years.

Social-Media Traffic to News Sites Has Increased 57% Since 2009

Well, this is no surprise: Digital has far surpassed print in the way we consume news.
More than half of all Internet users are plugged in to some form of social media, which means they're most likely coming into contact with the breaking news other users share on those platforms. This is especially true of Twitter, where stories can go viral long before they see print.
In fact, 64.5% of Americans consume their news online, and traffic to news sites generated by social media has increased 57% since 2009. The New York Times and CNN have an especially prodigious social media following, with more than 10 million Twitter followers apiece — although neither can top Katy Perry's dedicated fanbase.

In this tutorial i'm going to keep some trivia of facebook about creating Look back videos for some of it's deceased users.

Facebook Will Make 'Look Back' Videos for Deceased Users

Memorial

Facebook is changing its policies regarding profiles of users who have passed away.

Facebook on Friday altered its privacy settings on memorialized profiles so that all fuctions operate as they did when the user was active on the platform. For example, if a user kept his profile public to anyone on Facebook, that is the way his profile will be even after his passing.

Previously, when Facebook memorialized a profile, it was only visible to friends of the deceased.

"This will allow people to see memorialized profiles in a manner consistent with the deceased person's expectations of privacy," members of Facebook's community operations team wrote in a blog post. "We are respecting the choices a person made in life while giving their extended community of family and friends ongoing visibility to the same content they could always see."

A second part of the policy change involves "Look Back" videos, which were unveiled as part of Facebook's 10th anniversary in early February. Users will now be able to request a "Look Back" video of a loved one who has passed away.

Facebook automatically generated these videos of the top moments, posts and images from each person's Facebook history, and multiple users asked the company for "Look Back" videos of their deceased loved ones, according to the post.

The "Look Back" videos were particularly popular to users, and nearly 100 million people shared their video with friends in the first week Facebook unveiled them.

Have you heard about, facebook has overtaken whatsapp. What you think out of it. Hello, there, facebook is using whatsapp. Check out articles at our blog.

In this tutorial i will be explaining some status about Whatsapp.

WhatsApp User Sends More Than 1,200 Messages

Ever since Facebook announced that it will acquire popular social messaging app WhatsApp, there has been a lot of buzz about its impressive user base.

The app, which Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said is "on a path to connect 1 billion people," currently has more than 450 million daily users. The average WhatsApp user sends more than 1,200 messages per month, receives more than 2,200 per month and uploads 40 photos.

The following chart, created by Me, breaks down the averages WhatsApp user's monthly behavior.

Also i will explain all about this recent acquisition. Have you check about last article about Facebook Has No Plans to Bring Ads to WhatsApp.If not you must check it.

Facebook promised to add a handful of new standalone apps this year — but we're not sure this is what people had in mind.
The social media giant announced on Tuesday that is acquired the messaging app WhatsApp for $16 billion in stock and cash. The deal could be worth as much as $19 billion, including an additional $3 billion in vesting stock options, according to a Facebook blog post.
While the acquisition dwarfs Facebook's 2012 purchase of Instagram for $1 billion, the two deals do have one major similarity: Facebook intends to let WhatsApp operate independently.
"[WhatsApp] Leading mobile messaging company will continue to operate independently and retain its brand," Facebook outlined in its blog.
This aspect of the deal appears to be a major point of emphasis for WhatsApp. In its own blog post, the company made sure to highlight that joining Facebook will not impact its 450 million monthly active users.
WhatsApp will remain autonomous and operate independently. You can continue to enjoy the service for a nominal fee. You can continue to use WhatsApp no matter where in the world you are, or what smartphone you’re using. And you can still count on absolutely no ads interrupting your communication. There would have been no partnership between our two companies if we had to compromise on the core principles that will always define our company, our vision and our product.
Facebook took a similar "hands off" approach to Instagram and has seen success from the photo sharing app. Instagram started to run its first set of advertisements last fall, and added a new private messaging feature of its own in December.
WhatsApp will compete somewhat with Facebook's own standalone messaging app Messenger, although the majority of WhatsApps users appear to be international. This should help Facebook add an even stronger international presence, even if WhatsApp operates independently.

Facebook Flip-Flops on Messenger After WhatsApp Acquisition

Women-texting

It was just four months ago that Facebook updated its standalone messaging app, Messenger, with the goal of making the user experience more like texting.
That task appears to be easier said than done. Facebook's $19 billion acquisition of messaging app WhatsApp on Wednesday effectively confirmed that Messenger didn't live up to the task, at least not outside the U.S.
With the acquisition, Facebook has started preaching a very different strategy for Messenger than was outlined just four months ago.
With the Messenger update in October, Facebook opened messaging to all its users' mobile contacts, not just those on Messenger. Users needed only to add their phone numbers within the app. Messenger was redesigned to look like a standard text message inbox, and messages were delivered more quickly than before, according to Facebook product managers.
The app even had icons to alert users if they were sending a message to someone on mobile instead of their Facebook inbox. The update, in short, was intended to produce a real rival to SMS — not to mention WhatsApp.
"All of our changes around the new Messenger are about making it a mobile-to-mobile experience, so that I know I can dependably reach you instantly," Peter Martinazzi, Messenger product manager at Facebook, told Mashable last October. "If you're on Messenger, its going to go to your phone and you're going to treat it just like you would SMS, as a high priority mobile to mobile message."

Facebook acquired messaging app WhatsApp (L), a move that changed the role of its existing messaging app, Messenger.

Fast forward to Wednesday, when Mark Zuckerberg discussed WhatsApp with investors and mentioned Messenger frequently. Gone was the comparison to SMS. Messenger was suddenly an app for casual conversations between Facebook friends.
Messenger "evolved from Facebook chat, which was more instant messaging, not SMS," said Zuckerberg. "It's widely used today for chatting with your Facebook friends, and a lot of the messages people send are not real-time. Someone will send someone a message like a more informal email and then expect a reply later in the day."
So what happened? Facebook simply bought a better way to capture the global messaging audience, which WhatsApp reaches. In the 10 days leading up to Wednesday's acquisition, WhatsApp was the top social networking app on iOS every day but one in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy, according to App Annie.
"Facebook tends to be floppy," says Gartner analyst Brian Blau. "They try one thing, it doesn't work out, then they immediately try something else. It's how Facebook tries to innovate."
It would be hard to see Messenger disappearing anytime soon, Blau added. It seems likely that Facebook was simply hedging its bets — building an app to compete with WhatsApp while simultaneously pursuing it.
Regardless of the reason, it appears that Messenger has been relegated back to its original use case — casual conversations between Facebook friends. Because if you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.

Social media is very important part of our life. I mean everyone's life. We can't have our food digest until we don't chat for long on facebook with some one close to to heart. Or some may use it for Fun. But sometimes Social media can Troll you, haha. Yeah, it can make you think in a particular direction or can divert your thoughts, how read out to know.

Facebook is 10 years old. For some of you, that means it's time for your high school (or even college) reunion. Starting to sweat a little?

Between your "Look Back" video reminding you exactly what you were wearing in the mid-2000s and the constant borage of nostalgia articles, nearly every social media platform has become a streaming reminder of your mortality.

However young you feel, it only takes one confusing acronym to remind you you're actually super old.

1. When you see that kid you babysat for is "in a relationship."
