Robbed, Assaulted for Wearing Google Glass

A woman claims she was assaulted and robbed in a San Francisco bar — for wearing Google Glass.Sarah Slocum, a contributor at Newsdab, arrived at Molotov's, which Google Maps describes as a "laid-back bar with daily happy hour," early Saturday morning around 1:45 a.m., according to her YouTube page. Shortly after entering the bar, she said she was verbally and physically attacked by "Google Glass haters." One of the assaulters went so far as to snatch the connected headset off her face, although Slocum managed to recover it.
Incident highlights the social complications associated with wearing Google Glass
As Slocum describes on her Facebook page, the verbal assault began shortly after she arrived at the bar. She was showing someone how Glass worked when two girls began treating her with hostility, including flipping the bird her way. She also said she had "dirty, wet bar rags" thrown at her.
Slocum began recording the girls' behavior using Google Glass, and she informed them that she was doing so. At this point, the verbal assault turned physical; the people on camera began holding their hands up and at times reached for the headset (you can see Slocum blocking them in the video, below).
By default, Glass captures only a 10-second video, and Slocum didn't engage the extended recording mode — either by choice or by inadvertently overlooking the option as the situation grew tense. She said a man snatched the Glass off her face two to four minutes after recording the video. She immediately pursued him and managed to grab the headset back, but in the meantime, others stole her phone, purse and wallet.

"I do ... hope to diminish the misunderstanding that people have of Google Glass and help people realize that it is no more of a privacy concern than their smartphones and protect other wearable and Glass wearers from hatred, thugs and robbers," she wrote on Facebook.
